Yemi Alade under fire for ‘not appreciating’ fan’s portrait

Yemi Eberechi Alade, Nigerian afro-pop star, received “lashes” on social media after she made comments about a portrait of hers drawn by a fan.

The 27-year-old singer posted a picture on her Instagram page with the caption ‘Please my dear, REMOVE ME FROM THIS PICTURE AND PUT YOURSELF..E GO FIT YOU PASS’.

Fans who drew conclusion that she was not impressed with the artwork were quick to make their opinion known.

“@yemialade nawa 4 u ooo…. Appreciation no dey part of ur own attribute as a celebrity?” a fan commented.
“When you begin losing fans, you will blame witches and wizard without knowing that it’s because of your attitude towards people,” another wrote.

“Sum pipu said she was kidding,joking,funny…English..lol….imaging how d guy go dey feel nah…took his tym to make dat sketch for yhu see…..for mi yhu re such an ungrateful human…….whu yhu eep?…we love yhu gurl pls make it ryt nd appreciate ya fans…..awa naija nikky.

“This is my fear when I want to draw a celeb ..some might kill ur spirit.

“A tiny little bit of appreciation would have helped….whoever drew it took his time to draw it and this is what he gets…,not fair at all.”

However, some fans were sympathetic and tried to defend the Abia-born artiste.

“Can’t u see @yemialade was joking on that post. Is it a sin to have fame n money. U guys shld not this useless hate abeg?”

“Well its obvious some people are getting it wrong, Yemi Alade doesn’t mean to hurt the fan … I mean look at her display of humour with the emoji … u guys are so quick to judge tho. @yemialade.”

In March, the University of Lagos graduate said people who can not respect her should get out of her face
